With Spring 2020 just around the corner, perfect golfing weather is almost here! Whether you're a course pro or just getting the 'swing' of things, there's no shortage of premier public and private golf courses in Northeast Florida.

Here's a list of the area's most popular golf courses (with mileage from eTown):

Baymeadows Area

Deercreek Country Club (9 miles from eTown): Deercreek Country Club has hosted events like the US grass-green-golf-golf-ball-54123Amateur and USGA Senior Amateur qualifiers. Five different sets of tees make this course beginner-friendly yet also challenging to the expert golfer, men and women alike. Tee to green, Deercreek offers lengths from 4,758 to 6,702 yards, par 71 for the men, 73 for the ladies.

Deerwood Country Club (7 miles from eTown): Deerwood is the former home to THE PLAYERS Championship (formerly known as the Greater Jacksonville Open). In 2004, Deerwood Country Club completed an entire renovation on all of its golf facilities. During the renovation, golf architect Brian Silva designed and developed the new Deerwood we know and love today, featuring a par-72 course with five sets of tees ranging from 5,228 yards for the reds to 7,261 yards for the championship tees.

Jacksonville Golf and Country Club (11 miles from eTown): Jacksonville Golf and Country Club features an 18-hole championship golf course, twin signature greens on holes 9 & 18, and has earned the title of 2019 Jax Best Golf Course.

Jacksonville Beaches

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (16 miles from eTown): Ponte Vedra Inn & Club features two premier courses. Ocean Course, inspired by traditional Scottish links design, is 6,811-yard, a par-72 and a masterpiece of beauty, strength and strategy. Lagoon Course, 6,022-yards and a par-70, was co-authored by two design geniuses beginning in 1961.

Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club (18 miles from eTown): Queen's Harbour Golf Course encompasses everything we love about the North Florida outdoors. The course borders the Intracoastal Waterway, providing scenic access to tidal marshlands and Spanish oak trees that are hundreds of years old. Queen's Harbour distinguishes itself as a premier Jacksonville golf course, having hosted such events as the PGA Tour Qualifier and the Mercedes Collegiate Championships. Golf amenities include a putting/chipping green and driving range. Other features include a full-service clubhouse with private dining areas, sweeping verandas, and 19th hole that overlooks a beautiful freshwater marina.

St. Augustine

Palencia (15 miles from eTown): Palencia Club's Arthur Hills course features 18-holes of masterfully designed play, shaped by the natural beauty of the St. Augustine land. This 7,071-yard championship-designed course meanders through antique maritime oak trees, featuring a breath-taking view of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Tolomato River. Other golf amenities include 10,000 square feet of putting surfaces, 400-yard double-sided driving range, and a short-game area to fine tune the chipping and bunker play.

World Golf Village (16 miles from eTown): Wolf Golf Village is home to the King & Bear Course and the Slammer & Squire Course. The King & Bear is the only golf course in the world that has been co-designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The two developed a beautifully-groomed course that pays homage to the natural beauty of of the area.
